Vatican City, Cistine Chapel, St Peters Basillica
SO yesterday was my venture into the Vatican city, its museum, the Cistine Chapel, and St Peters Basillica. It was a great day, with no stories filled with pickpockets or anything like that, the downside… An hour and a half wait in the blazing sun, in line for the Vatican Museum, however this was shortly forgotten. As the the Treasures found in the Vatican Museum, and the Cistine Chapel, and St Peters Basillica were gorgeous.
Realistically i would have loved to have spent about an hour just sitting down in the Cistine Chapel looking at the roof, as you can not photograph the roof or walls, and your not meant to talk. Unfortunately these rules were being broken left right and centre by tourists. However i did not break them… (pictures turned out blurry)
The artistry in the Vatican are simply the best. Absolutely no doubt about it, and a lot of those paintings will stick with me for a very long time. No wonder the Catholic church is rich, if that art was ever sold it would go for billions!
Today and tomorrow are public holidays in Rome, basically mid summers days were they have to have an extra day off to recover from the first one.. Brilliant hey! Tonight we get to celebrate it, by the pool watching a Meteor Shower which should be a great thrill.
The next few days shall be spent kicking around rome, because… When in Rome… Do as the Romans do? Then jumping on a tour that is doing Sorrento-Naples-Isle of Capri-Sorrento-Amalfi Coast and then back to Rome, which i should have some absoultely stunning photos for you all. Unfortunately not all the photos of the Vatican turned out so well, you can’t have the flash on.

For dark interiors, before you enter…quickly adjust your ISO setting to 400/600, a tad of noise ensues, but your f stop/shutter speed will be higher…turning off the flash is a good idea for surreptitious pics
Remember to return to your usual ISO 100/200 when you leave.
Found your blog after the recent MSN post.
Am enjoying your summer travels from wintry New Zealand…regards edt.

Thanks for those tips, thats great however i have no idea how to change my ISO setting unless thats the same as exposure settings? (sorry sound like a bit of a newbie there!)
I chose that photo in particular to show the great light from benini’s window which is not often showed.
Once i find a more reliable internet connection i shall upload some of my favourite photos of the last few weeks i haven’t had a chance of yet.
Cheers
