Italy Belissimo! A Story from Pompeii, Sorrento, Isle of Capri, Amalfi, Ravello, Orvietto, Florence

Sorry i have not updated with my usual Effeciency, as i have been off seeing Beautiful Italy of the south. It all started on Saturday with a visit to Pompeii, where we visited the Ruins of the city devistated by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 73.AD. where luckily the night before 7 metres of ash had fallen to preserve the city into the site we can see today. I had only just completed the novel about Pompeii only a couple of days ago, and it was fresh in my mind the rough story of what had happened, and what scientists predict happened. With the temperature during the day hitting the 40 degree mark, in an area that still had Volcanic ash around, it was damn hot. Probably the hotest place i have ever been. There were mummified remains of humans from the erruption, Wine Bars, that were placed on every corner, and even the photos from the Brothel that still remained. Yes AJ there are some photos for you!

Then onto Sorrento for the evening where we stayed in Tent/Cabin things, but went for an orientation walk around the wonderful but really touristy Sorrento. The Views were spectacular as expected, however what was not expected was the surprise stop off in a Limoncello Shop, to taste a local Spirit based purely on Lemons. Then off to a fantastic 4 Course meal for dinner. The Italians really know how to eat! First course, Bruschetta or Foccacia, Second Course… A full plate of Pasta. Third Course, Fish or Meat dish with Vegies. Fourth and Final Course, Gelati… Mmmmm. Gelati.

The Following day we went on to the Isle of Capri, voted the number one holiday location for 2006. Where I visited the Blue Grotto, in What is probably to most beautiful thing i have seen. The video I have taken just doesn’t even justify how beautiful it really is.

After that, i just hung out with the Rich, Famous, and Powerful for the afternoon just basically people watching for the afternoon, Watching the Italians is probably better then watching a movie sometimes.I thought because i wasn’t rich or powerful in Capri, a good drinking session was in order in Sorrento that night… I forgot that i had to wake up and be at the bus by 7am.

The Final day was just as good as the others, driving along the Amalfi Coast road, Spending 3 hours in Amalfi, another rich and powerful hangout, with some absolutely gorgeous views. Then Upto Ravello, Above a couple of towns on the Amalfi Coast where Brad and Jennifer used to hang out etc… Gorgeous little place. The Best Gelati on the planet is there!

I’m Currently in Florence and the Shopping is Fantastic, probably one of the best places i have been for shopping. So far i have been extremely tempted by the leather jackets they have here. One of them is So Great i’m considering buying it cause it is cool. I know this is a long one, but its worth it. Next i’m off to Cinque Terra for somewhere just as nice apparently!
