Cinque Terre, The five Diamonds of Italy
I have been in Cinque Terre for the last for days and i am seriously considering if i should ever go anywhere else. These 5 small Italian towns (authentic in every way) are gorgeous. Right in the valleys of cliffs, the only way to access them is by train really.
Unfortunately this dodgy little internet cafe will not allow me to upload the gorgeous photos i have taken of these towns. In all about 18km’s apart, in which i walked on the first day! Yes you know how much i Deplore physical activity, however i walked this sometimes damn tough hills/mountains and it was one of the best things i have done in a while. Not to mention one of the hardest.
So apart from that, and just generally chilling in the sun, having copiuos amounts of coffees, pasta, pizza and my mission to find the best gelati shop in Cinque Terre. Which may i add is going well, considering there is about 4 Gelati shops in each town and i have gone through most of them… Just to make you proud AJ! Mission is not yet complete and i only have the rest of today to complete this as i am off to France…. I really dont want to leave Italy….
The apartments i am staying in are fantastic, i have ended up in a four person apartment, with two aussie girls and a kiwi bloke who happens to be a chef. He cooked us dinner last night and it was out of this world! Seafood Pasta, Salad, in which i even had tomato!!!!!! Those who know me know about my phobia of tomatoes! But This meal was one of the best i have had in Italy…Tonight he promises to do something Fancier and better! Can’t wait, an apartment that is cheap, my own chef. Is this heaven? The hotel i stayed in for the first two nights was stuck in the seventies. I mean in the lobby i think its a requirement to wear flares or a safari suit to blend into the furniture.
Yesterday, apart from having a meal cooked for me by my own personal chef, One of the Aussie girls and I were waiting at the train station getting bored out of our minds, and there was this small Italian girl that decided to make a paper airplanes and throw them off the cliff into the Ocean, So she was doing this for a while, and one flew back and hit me in the head… This meant i was now able to make my paper airplane, which ended up in The Little girl, her father, the Aussie Girl and myself in Competition making paper airplanes to see who could make the best one and make it fly the farthest. Needless to say I won!
I think at this stage the possibility of me coming home next summer without spending time in Italy is fairly remote. I thought i would love the place, but that just doesn’t describe it well enough.
Here is a funny photo that i took, that explains the Italian Male culture so well.
