Singapore
So i’m writing from Singapore today, and it is quite an amazing place. A clash of cultures like unseen before, but with little to no crimes or violence. Everyone is very nice, and get along amazingly well.
I am staying at the Betel Box Hostel, and is probably one of the best hostels I have ever stayed at, the accommodation is just what you want in a hostel, big rooms, close-ish to town, but they also run their own tours, and have tours for you. It’s actually based on one of the few Drinking districts in Singapore itself.
Eating is so cheap, unbelievably cheap really. I can get a full meal like i will tonight for $2 singapore… Which is about $1.60 Australian or about what 80p…The most expensive thing to do here is drink alcohol. Because there is a lot of Muslims around, it is quite heavily taxed. However $5 for a beer is still not bad.
Currently its the Ramadan Festival, which means that they are basically having a massive street party with food, shopping etc every night for the entire time. Now tie that into the different influences of India, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, and its a foodies paradise!
Tomorrow i’m off to the Singapore Zoo, which is meant to be fantastic. So i’m sure I will have some photos for you tomorrow.
