Miami, a city tour

Hello all, its me again coming to you from Sunny and a rather hot Miami, Florida. Its with mixed feeling I will be leaving this place, the ocean water is like bath water, which is great except for when your so hot you’d prefer it to be colder.  The hostel that i’m staying at the Art Deco Walk Hostel in Miami South beach is actually lovely.  The lobby is very tastefully done, something i’d like my eventual house to look like. Downstairs is a billion different resturant which is what South beach Miami is all about. Whilst walking past everyone is trying to get you in for a meal and whilst I resist most of the times i failed tonight. I got suckered into a “steak dinner” for $14.95, i thought great, including tip if i get out of this for $20 i’d be doing OK. Well, when you charge $6 yes $6 US for a glass of coke! well, I will never be eating in south beach again! Thats a couple of times this week i’ve been ripped off :( ah well. Thats travelling for you.

Today I decided to do a city tour and Everglades tour, which was a great! Miami411 was the company i used which was $20 cheaper then anyone else around. The tour of the Everglades was in an airboat, an experience i’ve always wanted to go on.  Then watched a guy “wrestle” a alligator, more like the allilgator was suffering from the heat as much as we were and was trying to sleep more. Then I headed off to the city tour and its one of the few times in a city that I have done a city tour and I must say i’m happy that i did. Miami is so … Multicultural thats not the word, well there is a lot of variation in the southern americans and Cubans that have come over and settled here.

The tour took us through the Coral Groves, coconut groves where all the celebs and people with lots of money hang out, then took us to Little Havanna a section i throughly enjoyed, and then back to the Art Deco section of South beach. Little Havanna had a section of old retired cubans hanging out in a garden/patio etc playing Dominoes and Chess. This old guy came over to talk to me but he was shouting at me, I wasn’t quite sure what was going on, and he was pointing to a sign that said basically no tresspassers this is for Old cubans to relax, and it wasn’t till I read more that Tourists are more then welcomed that I understood what he was saying. Basically take photos, chill out and be nice so I did.I took 300+ photos today here is just a small selection of the best photos.
