Perth, Australia I know that country!
Hello all, I’m writing to you from a little suburb in the hills of Perth, you wouldn’t believe it but Perth actually does have a few hills. I’m staying with a very good friend from London and his family (Parents). Its a lovely place in the hills and the first night in the house it was difficult to get used to. The Silence, its deaffening. No Sirens, no people shouting, no taxis beeping at tourists, the occasional bird call and thats it.
Adjusting to life in Australia I think may be a bit of a challenge, finding the right balance when speaking in perth seems case and point. When i was in Central Perth today, a woman behind the counter was asking whether this guy wanted a “Chook and Avo Sanga” Translated thats a Chicken and Advacdo Sandwich. So you have some of the most relaxed Aussie Slang around, and then you look at some of the press or some of the statements written on monuments that just make you question how we speak. A good example of this is the swan river at one of the lookouts one of the statements was “Let your Sorrow flow out through the river” So profound!
I’ve had the dramas with getting adjusted to the dialect, and i’ve struggled with the weather. The first few days, well when I arrived it was 18 Degrees C. In England thats shorts, t-shirt if you lucky down the park weather, but having come from South East Asia thats cold! I was wearing jumpers/hoodies and everything warm I could find. Now five days in, today was 26 and it felt like 30 odd.

Perth Panorama
Perth Is a lovely city, although its very hard to shake the title I would call it more a country town. People are nice and friendly, everyone says hello if required. I took this photo from Kings Park, there are not many cities in the world that have a wonderful view like this only metres away from the city.
Here are a few more shots Of Real Australiana. The baob tree is a supremely mystically tree, and has a load of stories about it.

I’m off to Rottnest in a couple of days time, it is quite expensive these days to go, but i’ve decided that apparently its one of the best places in Australia to go, so its one of those opportunities not to be missed.
Any suggestions are greatfully appreciated.

hey justin, not sure if you have already been to rotto, definitely take a pushy over with you and ride around the island. steve and i got the 10am ferry from fremantle and came back on the last one around 6pm, and we got around the whole island in a day. it’s awesome. lots of little secluded bays and beaches. definitely worth it.
don’t forget to pop into little creatures brewery in fremantle and have a gourmet pizza and taste some of their boutique beers. very cool place.
how did the job interview go? can’t wait to hear all the details.
i have a job interview on thursday night, wish me luck! a bit random, came out of nowhere, so will tell you more when i know more.
have you done the cruise from fremantle to perth or vice-versa? also very cool, feels like it’s as big as sydney harbour, and you get a better idea of the waterside suburbs etc. lots of sailing clubs and parks etc on the waters edge.
hope you are well. miss ya!
(was 6 degrees this morning with fog, you don’t want to be over here for a second!) brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
